Beyond The Bridge
The Beyond the Bridge Mentor Program is a vital prevention initiative designed to support children and teens between the ages of 11 and 17. Through this program, we match youth with compassionate, trained adult mentors who provide consistent guidance, encouragement, and a positive influence during a critical time in their development. These one-on-one mentoring relationships are built on trust and connection, helping youth feel seen, supported, and empowered to reach their potential.
In addition to ongoing support from their mentors, mentees and mentors enjoy access to exclusive activities and outings organized by The Bridge. These shared experiences strengthen the mentor-mentee bond and offer fun, safe opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills, and create lasting memories. The program is also backed by dedicated support from our Mentor Program Case Manager, who offers guidance and resources to ensure each match is thriving and receiving the attention they need.
Program Goals
Our Mentor Program represents a key component of our mission and is how we provide local opportunity youth with the vital human connection and support they need to develop problem-solving, communication, and critical life skills. Research demonstrates that youth who have even one positive mentoring relationship are 80% more likely to succeed than those who do not. This success includes demonstrated educational improvement, increased school attendance and performance, and connections to colleges and universities, completion of job applications and resumes and improved knowledge and ability to create and maintain a financial budget. The life-enhancing benefits of mentoring extend beyond the individual recipient; in helping youth thrive, we help families, schools, and communities.
Mentor Program goals include:
- Increased school attendance and performance
- Improved social and life skills
- Improved inter and intrapersonal relationships
- Reduced conflict with peers and family relationships
- Increased social capital
- Reduced risk of criminal activity and substance use
